Just a few days earlier than the Asian Cricket Council meeting, scheduled on March 3, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has stated that the 2020 edition of the Asia Cup can be held in Dubai.
Pakistan was alleged to host the match however India wasn’t inclined to travel to Pakistan. The BCCI had earlier said that it didn’t have a problem with Pakistan hosting the Asia Cup, as long because it changed into held at a neutral venue.
As per the reporters, Ganguly said that Asia Cup could be held in Dubai and both India and Pakistan will play.
Since 2012-13, India and Pakistan have not faced each other in bilateral series because of political tensions between the two nations. They have, however, performed against every other in most important ICC competitions as well as the Asia Cup.
The Asia Cup hasn’t been hosted by Pakistan since 2008. Sri Lanka hosted the 2010 version even as the next 3 versions were held in Bangladesh. The remaining Asia Cup tournament took place inside the UAE.
Since 2016, the Asia Cup has been on a rotation basis – alternating among T20Is and ODIs – with the 2020 version set to be a T20 tournament in guidance for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
