Australia vs India 3rd Test Day 4: Aussies middle-order shines

Australia vs India 3rd Test Day 4 Match Report: Australia were 103 for 2 on Day 3. The Australian middle order performed brilliantly. Aussies scored 312 for 6 and they declared the inning. Because they already have a lead of 94. India need 407 runs for a win. Marnus Labuschagne and Steven Smith shines again as they were able to score 73 and 81.

Chris Green was on a roll in the second inning. He smashed four sixes and eight fours. He played a 84 off 132 balls. It was his maiden fifty. But he misses out on his maiden century by sixteen runs. Once he got out, Australian skipper Tim Paine decided to declare the inning. He was unbeaten on 39. Ravichandran Ashwin and Navdeep Saini picked a couple of wickets each. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj took a wicket each.

India’s fielding was not up to the mark as they have dropped few catches. That has hurt them the most. When they came to bat. India started well. But, they lost a wicket of Shubman Gill at the score of 71. Rohit Sharma also got out later when India were 92 for 2. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill scored 52 and 31. India were 98 for 2 at the end of Day 4. Once Rohit got out, it seems that India should now look for the draw. Because the chance to win the match is next to impossible because Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja already having injuries.

Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane were unbeaten on 9 and 4 at the end of Day 4. They will have to play a longer innings tomorrow in order to save a match. But, Australia has an upper hand as they have picked two wickets today and Rohit’s wicket was a big plus for them. They need just eight wickets to win the game. Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc took one wicket each.

Australian coach Justin Langer was quite happy with the way Chris Green played at the Sydney cricket ground in the 2nd inning. It would have been great, if he could have scored his maiden test century. But, it was a great knock.

Ravichandran Ashwin says that the incident of racial abuse has been there in the past as well at the Sydney cricket ground. But, the investigation is going on as Indian cricket team lodges complaints against racial abuse. Because fans has made some racial comments on the players. However, this time they have got one step ahead.
