Delhi Capitals beat Rajasthan Royals by 13 runs

Match 30

Delhi Capitals beat Rajasthan Royals by 13 runs. An outstanding bowling effort from the Delhi Capitals snatched the victory from Rajasthan Royals. They got the two points and they are now standing at the top position. Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler started well as they scored 37 runs in 2.5 overs. But, Butler got out on the Last ball of Anrich Nortje after smashing 16 runs in his over. Stokes scored 41 runs in  35 balls. Sanju Samson played 25(18). Uthappa scored 32(27). But, they failed to score big runs. Other players were struggling as well.

The worst part was that they only scored 25 runs in the last 5 overs. They made the chase look difficult. The bowling was excellent. There is no doubt about that. But, Rajasthan Royals should have easily chased the total. Anrich Nortje and Tushar Deshpande picked a couple of wickets. Kagiso Rabada, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Axar Patel took a wicket each.

Delhi Capitals were 10/2 in 2.3 overs. Ajinkya Rahane and Prithvi Shaw were dismissed quite early. But, the partnership between Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer was outstanding. They added 85 runs. Shikhar Dhawan played attacking cricket and he scored 57 runs in 33 deliveries. Shreyas Iyer played calculative innings as he scored 53 in 43 deliveries. Rajasthan Royal fights back in the last 5 overs as they gave only 32 runs and took four wickets and they restricted DC to 161 for 7 in 20 overs. Jofra Archer was impressive as he picked three wickets and gave only 19 runs in his 4 overs. He took two catches as well.

Injury is a big concern for Delhi Capitals as their two players Amit Mishra and Ishant Sharma has been ruled out of the tournament. Rishabh Pant has been asked to rest for at least a week. Shreyas Iyer was seen in pain and he left the field but he didn’t come back to the field. Because of that Shikhar Dhawan took the responsibility on his shoulders and lead the team in Iyer’s absence. Shikhar said that Iyer was in pain but his shoulder is moving. However, we will get the reports tomorrow.
