England’s Tour of South Africa has been called off. Covid-19 is a serious issue and we are glad that the cricket boards of both teams have taken this decision to further reduce the chances of infection.

The health of the players is the most important matter and nothing should be done which might endanger their health. The first ODI got delayed a record three times in the last four days. Because of players testing positive again and again. This prompted the cricket boards to reconsider their decision about continuing the upcoming ODI series.

Pakistan, Australia, and Sri Lanka are also due to tour in the upcoming weeks. These teams might also reconsider their options about whether or not to go ahead with their respective tours. We hope that they do continue their respective tours. Given that the health condition of their players is not put into jeopardy.

Two Englishmen and three South Africans had tested positive for the deadly disease since England had arrived in South Africa. The decision to abort the tour might be considered to be a bit harsh on the hosts CSA (Cricket South Africa) as they were trying to rekindle cricket after the peak of the pandemic.

It is always nice to see cricket associations and boards taking decisions in the interest of the players. While we do agree that financial losses are also made. Due to the cancellation of sports tours like these. But, nothing is more important than human life. We think that this is a great example of how sporting events should be organized.
