First Wickets of Jasprit Bumrah in all formats

Jasprit Bumrah is one of the leading Indian bowlers as of now. One can’t even imagine the Indian bowling attack without him. So, we have decided on the first wickets of Jasprit Bumrah in various formats of cricket including IPL.

As you might notice, all of his first wickets were veteran batsmen as we know them today. Now, let’s dive deep into how he took his first wickets.

IPLVirat Kohli

Yes, the current skipper of the Indian squad was Bumrah’s first wicket in IPL. It happened on 4th April 2013 in Bangalore. Virat Kohli was playing a turbocharged inning with a strike rate of 150+ when Bumrah dismissed him. He in total took 3 wickets in this match. But unfortunately, his team lost by just 2 runs.

IPL games are like this. Teams routinely lose in close matches. But, he should be appreciated for taking an important wicket for his team.

ODI – Steve Smith

Steve Smith was the first ODI wicket for Jasprit. This happened on 23rd January 2016 when India was playing against Australia. Smith was carefully batting at a score of 28 runs when he was sent back to the dugout after getting caught out.

Smith was also the captain of the Australian squad back then. Bumrah’s dismissal prevented him from scoring big and eventually, India got a target of 331 runs which they managed to chase while 2 deliveries were remaining.

T20I – David Warner

This happened on Republic Day (26th of January) of 2016. India had given a target of 189 runs to the Australian Cricket Team. Warner was batting quite aggressively and just then Bumrah sent him back by dismissing him when Kohli caught the catch.

India did win this match by a decent margin of 37 runs.
