England 1st Innings
Their innings lasted just 48.4 overs and they managed to score a total of 112 wickets. Had it not been for the half-century of Zak Crawley (53 runs), their situation might have been far worse. Axar Patel was the star of the show as he took 6 wickets.
India 1st Innings
In a bizarre coincidence, Indian opener Rohit Sharma too was the highest scorer of the Indian innings as well (66 runs). The Indian team too didn’t score that well and was all-out after scoring 145 runs. Skipper Joe Root took 5 wickets in just 6.2 overs which he bowled and was also the most economical bowler.
England 2nd Innings
In an innings that lasted just 30.4 overs, the English called it quits after scoring 81 runs. Ben Stokes (25 runs) and Joe Root (19 runs) were the highest scorers. Axar Patel once again decimated the English batting order by taking 5 wickets. Ravichandran Ashwin also took 4 wickets while Washington Sundar had to stay content with just one wicket. Ashwin joins the 400 test wickets club.
India 2nd Innings
India as a result was given a petty target of 49 runs which they reached without losing a single wicket. Also, they took just 7.4 overs for doing that. Rohit Sharma stayed not out at the score of 25 runs while Shubman Gill made 15 runs. India won the match by ten wickets.
Social Media’s Reaction
Some social media users started to call out the pitch ( India vs England 3rd Test ) curator on Twitter. They argued that the pitch wasn’t ‘fit’ for a proper test match. Whatever may be the case, the match ended with a huge victory for India.
