India vs England 4th Test Day 3: India were 294/7 at the end of Day 2.
Sundar Carries On
While fans didn’t expect much to happen from the remaining Indian batsmen on day 3, Axar Patel and Washington Sundar managed to take the total Indian score to 365 runs. Sundar made 96* runs while hitting 10 fours and a six while Patel made 43 runs smashing 5 fours and a six.
Dan Lawrence Tries To Fight
While England scored just 135 runs in their second innings and lost the match by an innings and 25 runs, Dan Lawrence did try to fight by hitting a half-century (50 runs) before he was dismissed by Axar Patel, but he didn’t get much support other than his fellow teammate and skipper Joe Root who made 30 runs.
Patel And Ashwin Finish The Match
Both of them took 5 wickets each and helped India finish the match on the third day itself. Had it not been for them, the match would have continued ahead. Axar Patel especially did a commendable job with the bat as well as the ball.
Rishabh Pant: Player Of The Match
He was awarded this award because it was he who stabilized the Indian first innings when wickets were falling at a regular interval. Many might argue that Axar should have been declared as the player of the match.
India Secures Ticket To The WTC Final
Another great news that came in for the Indian fans was that now it is confirmed that India will be one of the teams which will be playing in the WTC Final ( World Test Championship Final ) at Lords, England. This is quite big since the WTC is being held by the ICC for the very first time.
