India vs England Day 4 Test 2 Match Report:
Axar Patel was the hero on the fourth day as he did took two wickets on the third day when the innings of the England had just begun, no one expected him to take three more on day 4. He finished the day with a five-wicket haul. It was a dream debut for him in the test cricket.
But he did and made sure that India defeated England on the third day itself. He took the crucial wicket of English captain Joe Root who had scored 33 runs by then and was headed towards a big score.
Ashwin too contributes with others
While it was Ravichandran Ashwin who saved India by scoring a century in the second innings, he bowled well too. In total, he managed to dismiss three batsmen of the England cricket team. His two most important wickets were that of RJ Burns and Dan Lawrence.
Kuldeep Yadav’s two wickets
Yadav along with Patel and Ashwin were the deadly Indian trio on day 3. Moeen Ali, who was playing on the score of 43 was playing a stunning inning and could have been a threat to India’s victory. Yadav eliminated him with the help of Rishabh Pant who stumped him.
What went wrong for England?
Their batsmen failed to develop a proper partnership as wickets fell at regular intervals. Some of their batsmen did try to score big but ended up getting prematurely dismissed.
Moeen Ali did play a daring inning by maintaining a strike rate of 230+ but he alone would not have been able to help the England team even if he had stayed not out. It was the Indian bowling attack which was well-planned that broke the back of the batsmen.
While youngster Siraj wasn’t able to take any wickets, he turned out to be the most economical bowler in the three overs which he bowled.
Man of the Match
R. Ashwin receives the man of the match for his performance with the bat and ball.
India’s plan for the remaining two tests
India would like to win the two remaining tests and finish this test series on a high note. If Virat and Co. perform well as they did in Chennai, this can become real.
