New Zealand have won the toss and have opted to field first.
Here are the teams:
India: Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Mohammad Shami, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Jasprit Burmah.
New Zealand: Martin Guptill, Colin Munro, Kane Williamson, Colin de Grandhomme, Ross Taylor, Tim Seifert, Mitchell Santner, Tim Southee, Scott Kuggeleijn, Ish Sodhi, and Hamish Bennett.
Great start from India as they got off to a flying start as they have achieved 69 for 0 in the powerplay. Rohit has reached fifty. At the halfway stage, they have reached 92 for 1. Rahul gave a good start but he got dismissed by Grandhomme on 27. In 15 overs, they have managed to score 127 for 3. The scoring rate has been dipped a bit as Bennett dismissed Shivam Dube and Rohit Sharma in his third over. They have posted a score of 179 for 5 in their innings. Bennett picked three wickets. Santner and Grandhomme took one wicket. Will they be able to defend it or New Zealand will win their first encounter?
Kiwis scored 51 for 1 in the powerplay. Martin Guptill played a small cameo of 31 in 21 deliveries. At the halfway stage, they reached 79 for 2. In 19 overs, they managed to score 171 for 4. Nine runs were needed in the last over and with Williamson and Taylor on the crease you would expect them to chase the total but exceptional bowling from Shami as after getting smashed for a six in his first ball he turned the things around as he gave 2 more runs and picked the wickets of Ross Taylor and Williamson in the final over and the match got tied. Now, the result of the game will be decided on the super over. Kane Williamson achieved 95 in 48 deliveries with a strike rate of 197.
New Zealand batted first in the super over and they achieved 17 runs. India needed 18 runs to win the game or if they score 17, then there will be another super over. India scored 8 runs in the first four balls and they needed 10 runs in the last 2 balls. Rohit Sharma smashed two sixes in the last two balls and won the match for India. It was an exceptional game and it will be a difficult game to digest for the Kiwis as they lost the game in the super over. Rohit Sharma is awarded as Man of the Match for his outstanding performance.
