Melbourne Stars scored 29 for 2 in the powerplay. It was a very slow start. At the halfway stage, they reached 49 for 3. But at the end of the innings, they were able to post a total of 141 for 6 which is not a match-winning score but they have something to fight for. They need to bowl extremely well if they want to defend the total. Hilton Cartwright and Glenn Maxwell played a run a ball 58*  and 25. Larkin also contributed with 24 in just 18 deliveries. Matthew Kelly picked three wickets. Jhye Richardson and Fawad Ahmed took one wicket as well.

Perth Scorchers achieved 41 for 1 in the power play. At the halfway stage, they reached 66 for 3. They are 16 runs ahead of MLS as of now. But in the last 6 overs, MLS fight back and bowled brilliantly and turned the game by picking 6 wickets. They restricted them to a score of 131 for 9. They won the match by 10 runs. Cameron Bancroft scored 32 in 44 deliveries. Kurtis Patterson achieved 20 in 17 deliveries.

Once, they both got dismissed MLS put pressure on them and picked wickets in the latter part of the innings and changed the scenario of the match. Nic Maddinson picked three wickets. Sandeep Lamichhane, Daniel Worrall, Clint Hinchliffe, and Maxwell took one wicket. Glenn Maxwell is awarded as Player of the Match for his 25 runs from the bat and a wicket and a catch as well.
