New Zealand vs West Indies 2nd Test Day 1 Report: Things looked interesting at the Basin Reserve as West Indies won the toss and decided to bowl. The first day ended with New Zealand managing to put up a decent score of 294 in 84 overs.
Henry Nicholls managed to score a century (he has made 117 runs and is still not out) while other Kiwi batsmen Daryl Mitchell (42 runs), Will Young (43 runs), and BJ Watling (30 runs) also managed to put up some decent scores on the board. Overall, the New Zealand batting was shaky at best with wickets falling at regular intervals.
New Zealand still has 4 wickets left and will try to make the most of it hopefully if Henry Nicolls continues treading on his excellent innings. What will happen on day two will be interesting to find out.
If we talk about the West Indies’ bowling attack then Shannon Gabriel was the most successful bowler. He managed to take a whopping three wickets. While Chemar Holder and Alzarri Joseph managed to take two and one wicket respectively. Overall, the bowling of the West Indies cricket team was balanced. Because they made the most out of the opportunities presented to them.
The most economical bowler from the West Indies side was Jason Holder. Although, he failed to take a wicket. But, boasted an excellent economical rate of just 2.82. Day two is going to be an interesting one for sure as West Indies will also come out to bat. We hope that we see some really interesting cricket on day two.
