New Zealand vs West Indies 2nd Test Day 4 where Kiwis crush WI
New Zealand vs West Indies 2nd Test Day 4 Report: The kiwis managed to finish the last test match with style as they defeated West Indies by an innings and 12 runs. The match went as we had earlier predicted. The Kiwis had asked the West Indies to play follow on innings. But, West Indies failed to match the total of the Kiwis.
Even if they had managed to set a total for the Kiwis, it would have probably been too small and insignificant for the Kiwis to chase and they would have won the match anyway.
If we talk about the follow-on innings of the West Indies then they had quite a shaky start. Because they lost their first couple of wickets early on in their innings. But then John Campbell played an impressive innings of 68 runs and tried to stabilize the West Indies innings.
He got some support by Sharmarh Brooks who successfully knocked 36 runs on the board. Other batsmen of the top order failed to make an impression.
While lower order batsman and skipper Jason Holder wicketkeeper Joshua Da Silva did make their mark as they played excellent innings. They managed to score 61 and 57 runs respectively. But unfortunately, their innings were simply not enough to avert the impending doom which was waiting for the West Indies team.
The result of the match would have been a bit different. If the West Indies managed to have a solid start in their follow-on innings. But this was not the case and they had to suffer defeat at the hands of New Zealand.
With regards to the bowling of the New Zealand team, then Trent Boult was the most successful bowler. Along with Neil Wagner who managed to take 3 wickets each. While if we talk about economy, Kyle Jamieson topped the list with an economy rate of just 2.87.
