Parthiv Patel Announces His Retirement: A Big Blow for the Fans

Parthiv Patel Retirement: Famous Indian cricketer Parthiv Patel took to Twitter to announce his retirement from all forms of cricket. This came as a shock to his fans who were not at all expecting this sad news. An interesting fact about Parthiv is that he had made his Test debut at the age of just seventeen!

He thanked the BCCI and Gujarat Cricket Association for their generous contribution to his career and life as he declared his retirement on Twitter. He also specially thanked now BCCI president and ex Indian Captain ‘Dada’ Sourav Ganguly for his guidance and support.

Parthiv played 2 T20, 38 ODI, and 25 Test cricket matches for the Indian squad. He made his last known appearance in the 2018 test against South Africa in Johannesburg. Besides India, he will also be remembered for his contributions to his domestic home team, Gujarat. He was a member of the Vijay Hazare Trophy-winning squad of 2015.

Although his inclusion into the Indian cricket team’s playing eleven was quite sporadic. However, people will remember him for his contributions to the Indian cricketing scene. He was given ample chances to secure his place in the team. But, he failed to do so owing to his poor performance and the selectors’ decision to go with MS Dhoni instead of him.

He won his fans’ hearts whenever he played. A good thing for him and his career was the emergence of IPL (Indian Premier League). He played in the IPL on a regular basis and was also a member of 3 winning teams, CSK in 2010, MI in 2017 and 2015.

His first-class cricketing career was quite a triumph. While he managed to end it with a whopping average of 44.18. Overall, he will be remembered as a team player and a wonderful cricketer.
