Ireland has given a new role to Paul Stirling

Paul Stirling has been given new role in a team

Paul Stirling –  Vice-Captain

Ireland has announced Paul Stirling as vice-captain and will support his captain Andrew Balbirnie and will display his experience as he has been in the team for few years in order to take Irish cricket to the next level in the future. Paul is delighted for the new role that has been offered and he is ready for the challenge. He shares a good rapport with Andrew and will look to get that on the field as well with some suggestions and experiences.

Balbirnie was appointed as Irish captain for tests and ODI’s in November in 2019 and later he became skipper in T20’s as well. In his leadership, they shave started well in the short format as they have drawn the series against West Indies but they lost the series against Afghanistan. They showed the intent though but could not able to win the game. Andrew is happy with the team and wants that team must have a good bond on the field and off the field so that we can grow understanding towards each other which will be very crucial when we will be up against any opponent.

He said that he is very close to Stirling as he knows him for many years and we need to promote him as he has good knowledge about cricket and can help him as he has always shared suggestions when I asked him. I am sure he would be excited as well for his role. They have started training last week but there is uncertainty over their next cricketing engagement due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. There is a possibility of a three-match ODI series in England next month.
