South Africa vs Sri Lanka 1st Test Day 3 Match Report: RSA was trailing by 79 runs at the end of Day 2. However, they played magnificently as they manage to score 621 runs. Faf du Plessis put up a brilliant show with the bat. But, unfortunately, he got out on 199. He just missed his double century.
While Temba Bavuma and Keshava Maharaj scored half-centuries. Bavuma made 71 off 125 balls, and Keshav Maharaj made 73 off 106 deliveries. Wanindu Hasaranga picked a four-wicket haul. Dasun Shanaka was forced to bowl a new ball because Kasun Rajitha got injured on Day 2 as he suffered a groin injury. Temba Bavuma went for a short and he thought he nicked it. So, he started walking to the pavilion. But, the replay confirms that there was no edge at all.
Faf scored his 10th Test century and scored more than 4000 runs in test cricket.
A bee stung Dickwella on the neck and he went down for a while. After some time, Dasun Shanaka went down while trying to save a boundary. He was having pain in his knee.
Angelo Matthews and Suranga Lakmal miss out on the current test series due to the hamstring issue. But, Kasun Rajitha and Dhananjaya de Silva got injured in the match.
Sri Lanka came in to bat and they scored 65 for 2 in 12 overs. Kusal Perera and Dinesh Chandimal were unbeaten on 33 and 21. They will look to score more than 400 runs if they want to have an outside chance to win the match. Otherwise, they have to look to draw the match. On the other hand, South Africa will look to pick early wickets. So, that they can put them under pressure and won the test match.
