West Indies: Shai Hope, Sunil Ambris, Darren Bravo, Roston Chase, Nicholas Pooran, Kieron Pollard, Jason Holder, Keemo Paul, Fabian Allen, Alzarri Joseph, Sheldon Cottrell.
Avishka Fernando and Kusal Mendis came out to bat for Sri Lanka. They put up a brilliant partnership of 239. They guided the team towards the total score of 345 against the West Indies in the second ODI on the 26th of February on Wednesday. It was Sri Lanka’s highest third-wicket partnership.
They gave a poor start initially as they were 9 for 2 at one stage. But, Avishka Fernando and Kusal Mendis were in good touch and they rebuild the innings.
They were not comfortable with rising deliveries. West Indies also got the opportunity to dismiss Mendis but Pollard failed to catch the ball at the first slip. Mendis achieved run a ball 119 and Avishka Fernando scored 127 in 123 balls.
Thisara Perera also played a small cameo of 36 in just 25 deliveries. They put up a good total on the board as they achieved 345 for 8 in the 50 overs. Cottrell picked a four-wicket haul and Alzarri Joseph took three wickets in the match.
Sri Lanka bowled outstandingly because they restricted West Indies to 184 in 39.1 overs and won the match by 161 runs. Shai Hope was their only batsman who was able to score a half-century but he got dismissed on 51. Pooran also supported Shai Hope as he played a small cameo of 31 runs.
Both the spinners Hasaranga and Lakshan Sandakan bowled extremely well as West Indians were unable to pick them and they got three wickets each. Pradeep also got two wickets. Avishka Fernando is awarded as Player of the Match for his outstanding knock of 127.
