Steve Smith Caught Scuffing the Pitch

Steve Smith Caught Scuffing the Pitch I Childish Moment I

Steve Smith Caught Scuffing the Pitch: Something exciting happened on the fifth day of the third Test of the prestigious Border Gavaskar Trophy. While Steve Smith struggled to get into his form in the first two tests. But, he managed to gain it back in the third test.

But he did something else as well, which sparked yet another controversy. While the drinks break was on, Steve Smith went to the crease and erased the Indian batsman Rishabh Pant‘s guard.

When Pant came back to batting, he had to create his guard again. All this got caught in the stumps’ camera. Twitter users lashed out at the ex-Australian captain for doing this deed.

It’s beyond our understanding of why Smith would do something as childish as this. In particular, this test match will go down as one of the most controversial test matches ever held between India and Australia. This is because of these things.

  1. Racial abuse of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj on the 2nd and 3rd day
  2. Racial abuse of Mohammed Siraj in particular on the 4th day
  3. And finally, pitch scuffing by Steve Smith

It would be interesting to see what the reply of Smith would be about this incident. While social media users hurled abuses against him, Cricket Australia is yet to tweet or release a statement about the incident.

Interestingly, they even went on to congratulate Smith for being named as the Man of the Match for the test. If we talk about Smith, this isn’t the first time he has tried to employ some ‘out of the box’ methods.

He was also involved in the 2018 ball tampering scandal, which shook the Australian cricket team. He was banned for a year by Cricket Australia for his involvement in the incident. It would be interesting to see what happens next.
