While bowling the fourth over on Day 3 of the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne. He was in huge pain and he left the field due to a calf injury. On the 1st of January, BCCI confirms that T. Natarajan will be his replacement.
Natarajan was requested to stay back for the Test series after seeing an outstanding performance in the T20 series. He got a good start in the T20 series in his career. He will eye on making a debut in test cricket. But, Navdeep Saini and Shardul Thakur are also with the team. They can be considered ahead of T Natarajan.
He had a brilliant season in the IPL 2020. He was known for his yorkers in the tournament. Natarajan has the potential to take wickets in difficult situations. He can be an X-Factor for the team if he gets an opportunity.
