Cricket Quotes

Cricket is a game played with the help of a bat and a ball with two teams of 11 players each. The game was first played sometime during the medieval period in the South-Eastern Countries of England. Although, it is not confirmed the earliest available date when the game was played is supposed to be 17 January 1597.

Since then, the game has evolved to a great extent and today the game is not only played in the country of England but has made the whole world its arena.

There are several Quotes related to the sport that defines the essence of the game. Some of the popular ones are as follows:

Thomas Moult in his book “Bat and Ball” (1935) defined Cricket as an ancient pastime that has ripened sweetly and has endured nobly.

Fred (Frederick Sewards) Trueman in Freddie Trueman’s Book of Cricket (1964) affirmed that there is no game other than cricket that attracts the half-baked tourists.

When Rahul Dravid, a former Indian Player was asked about the selection of 11 players of the team, he mentioned that one doesn’t win or lose the game because of the 11 selected players but one wins or loses because of those 11 do on the field.

Cricket has indeed not just a game for the players, but they worship it. Virat Kohli, the Indian Cricket Team Captain in an interview, says that he founds the joy of doing well as a batsman and for one’s country is far more than the joy that one gets at a party listening to music. He added that the high that the player gets by performing well is the kind of high he enjoys.

Undoubtedly, Cricket runs in the veins and soul of these players who not only play for themselves but their country as well.
