Shubman Gill is a young and emerging Indian cricketer who is in the news for his decent performance in the second test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy which India managed to win by 8 wickets. If we talk about his performance in this debut test, then he managed to score 45 runs in India’s first innings and 35 runs in the second innings. He helped India win by staying on the crease till India had managed to chase the set target by the Australians.
If we talk about him, then he was born in Fazilka in the Punjab state of India. He represented the Punjab cricket team in domestic matches and plays for KKR (Kolkata Knight Riders) in the IPL (Indian Premier League). He played for the Punjab cricket team for the first time in the Ranji Trophy series of 2017-2018.
With regards to his international debut, then he made it in 2019 January against the New Zealand cricket team. You would be surprised to know that his father Mr. Lakhwinder Singh wanted to become a cricketer but due to some unforeseen circumstances, he could not.
So, he made sure that Shubman would fulfill his dream by becoming an international cricketer. His father has so much confidence in Shubman. That he even shifted his whole family to Mohali and lived near the cricket stadium there.
The turning point in his cricketing career came when he was bought by the KKR (Kolkata Knight Riders) for quarter a million US dollars. He has since then represented KKR in the IPL and continues to play for them.
As of now, he has played 1 test match and 3 ODIs. We are yet to see a big innings to be played by him. But we do know that he has the potential to do so and it is only a matter of time before he is able to prove his mettle in the international cricketing arena.
