Virat Achieves A Historic Feat
Virat Scored 50 Centuries In ODIs. King Kohli broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 ODI centuries in the semi-finals against the mighty New Zealand. His 50th century against the Kiwis was without lacklustre and he dominated the field with his shots.
As for the performance of other players in this match, Shreyas Iyer scored a century as well with King Kohli. Could Virat have scored more on this occasion? Yes for sure, if he had tried to play somewhat less riskily then he would have been able to add some more runs to his total score in the end.
Virat 50th Century Scorecard
As you can probably notice, he played almost run a ball and refrained from playing big shots. It should be noted that he was dismissed by Tim Southee while getting caught by Devon Conway. He was trying to hit a 6 while getting dismissed.
Virat’s Centuries Over The Years
|Year||Number of centuries|
As you can possibly say, Kohli has been consistent with his performance when it comes to scoring centuries at the beginning of his career. This continued well till over 2019. But then, there was a draught of centuries for 2 long years.
Then in 2021, when he tried to make a comeback, he managed to score just a single century. It should be noted though that maybe due to COVID-19, he played fewer matches and hence, it can explain his less number of centuries.
But 2023 has been a blockbuster year for him so far with 6 centuries to his credit. Let’s see how he ends his year when it comes to scoring ODI centuries.
